U.S. Custom Harvesters, Inc. (USCHI) is an association of professional custom harvesters that serve the needs of the American farmer. A custom harvester is someone who harvests crops – grains, forages, specialty, etc., for an individual farmer . When a farmer does not have the time or is unable to invest in large, specialized equipment, they hire a custom harvester. Custom harvest crews travel most of the year following the harvest seasons. Many travel from the southernmost points in the United States on north, well into Canada, and from coast to coast. . There are many rules and regulations to follow when hauling heavy equipment and various supplies. USCHI updates members regularly on the complex regulations so that they have a thorough knowledge of both federal and state laws that apply to the industry. Additionally, USCHI hosts safety trainings, equipment trainings, and networking opportunities for harvesters and prospective harvest crew members.
The organization was established in 1983 and serves as a link between the harvesters and the many people and organizations they work with, such as farmers, agribusinesses, service providers, state and federal government officials.
Each year, USCHI hosts an Annual Convention for its harvester and associate members. While media often attend the convention, USCHI was looking for a way to document the organization’s primary annual event and gather interviews from attendees and board members.
Cultivated Conversations suggested and subsequently developed an internship program to focus on social media during the event while also creating compellation videos post event.
Since the 2021 Annual Convention, Cultivated Conversations has selected and led two interns annually. From those internships, social impressions during USCHI’s Annual Convention have increased by tens of thousands and USCHI has multiple videos from each year to showcase on their YouTube Channel and in social posts.
